Npcap previously needed a specially-configured instance of this adapter in order to do loopback capture, but since 0.9983 it has not needed it. I want to give you some steps to take to better diagnose the problems you're seeing.įirst, I notice the "Microsoft KM-TEST Loopback Adapter" listed. You have several unusual network adapters that I could see possibly causing problems, though I'm unaware of any specific issues that would cause the problems you're seeing. Sooo, npcap 0.9983 sometimes can't find any of my adapters and sometimes just can't find the main Ethernet. Then, after confirmed that Wireshark 3.x should work correctly with winpcap 4.1.3, I uninstalled Wireshark 2.6.6 and installed Wireshark 3.0.6 but ignored its npcap suggestion. So, adapting a suggestion I found in, I uninstalled Wireshark, uninstalled npcap, and installed Wireshark 2.6.6 (64 bit)-with-winpcap 4.1.3. Then the Wireshark-and-npcap installation could finish, but when I tried to do a capture, sometimes there were no interfaces found and sometimes several interfaces but never the Ethernet 2 that I wanted to watch. So with a few detours I uninstalled it manually and rebooted. The new installation suggested that I semi-auto-upgrade npcap to version 0.9983, and I accepted the suggestion.ĭuring the installation the npcap uninstaller failed, reporting that it couldn't stop the previous version of npcap. I was upgrading an earlier version of Wireshark 3.x (64 bit) that used an earlier version of npcap. Yesterday I installed Wireshark 3.0.6 (64 bit) on a Windows 10 laptop with built-in Ethernet adapter.
